Tommy Roberts Sr, 97, of Elk Run Heights, died Friday, May 16, 2025. He was born April 3, 1928, in Ottumwa, son of Henry and Fannie (Bright) Roberts. He served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1949 earning the rank of Staff Seargent. Tommy married Darlene Frericks in December of 1949.

Tommy worked for Rath Packing until its closing. He then was self employed as a handyman and subcontractor installing windows and doors and other projects. Tommy was a friend to all who met him, with an easygoing personality and desire to help others. He wasn't the kind of person to sit idly, he was always on the go, working on projects in the garage, woodworking, fishing, or helping other people with their projects. He was a kind husband and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 76 years, Darlene, son Tommy Roberts Jr. of Elk Run Heights, daughter Karen Meighan of Evansdale, grandchildren: Josh (RaeJean) Meighan, Eric (Kristin) Meighan, and Lynn (Benjamin) DeVries; great-grandchildren: Brooke, Cole, Kaiden, Addison, Benjamin, and Zachary.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Judith Roberts, and grandson Christopher Roberts.

Services will be Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.LockeFuneralServices.com/
