Barbara J. Larson, 82, of La Porte City, died on Monday, February 17, 2025, at her home.

She was born September 19, 1942, in La Porte City, the daughter of LeRoy and Helen (Roszell) Riggle. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1960 and received a cosmetology degree from Pitze's School of Beauty in 1972. She married Glen C. Larson on July 15, 1961, at the Brandon Church of Christ in Brandon.

Barbara was a hairdresser in her home salon for 18 years until going to work for the Black Hawk County Health Department as a home care aid from 1990-2004.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Brandon. She enjoyed camping, vegetable gardening and canning. She also enjoyed traveling over the years with Glen, including memorable trips to Hawaii, Paris, and Germany. She was a great card player, specializing in bridge, pepper, and canasta. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Glen Larson of La Porte City; two daughters, Rebecca (Rory) Clark of La Porte City, and Melissa (Mark) Elwick of Vinton; four grandchildren, Philip Kochel of O'Fallon, IL, Semantha (Brian) Guillen of North Carolina, Brooke Clark of La Porte City, and Blake (Vildana) Clark of Las Vegas, NV; six great-grandchildren, Bentley Bunce, Gabriel Kochel, Genevieve Kochel, Mason Guillen, August Guillen, and Marshall Guillen; and a sister, Betty Young of Brandon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lori Hunter; son-in-law, Dave Hunter; two brothers, Judd and Lyle Riggle; a sister-in-law, Cindy Riggle; and a brother-in-law, Gordon Young.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2025, at Locke in La Porte City, 606 E. Main Street, La Porte City, with burial to follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in rural Brandon. Visitation for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed St. Croix Hospice. Condolences may be left at www.LockeFuneralServices.com.
