Kendall Jay Koenen, 62, of Parkersburg, peacefully entered eternal life at his home on November 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Kendall was born on March 9, 1962, in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Justin and Elaine (Haats) Koenen. Kendall graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1980 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1985. He married Teri Fox on June 18, 1988, in Waterloo, and the couple was blessed with four children. Kendall worked as an engineering manager for DENSO International America where he retired in 2015.
Kendall loved life and loved his children and grandchildren, whom he considered his greatest accomplishments. He was a gearhead who loved to go fast and enjoyed racing cars and riding motorcycles. Kendall found joy in working on cars and taught his children how to repair them. He especially enjoyed classic rock music and singing along with various artists. As a trumpet player in his youth, Kendall took pride in attending his children's band and choir concerts and their various school activities. He loved being PePa to his grandchildren and would say that visits with them were the best medicine and ended every visit or video chat by flashing the peace sign. Above all else, Kendall loved the Lord and his church family as he was a member of Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in Holland.
He was preceded in death by his father, Justin Koenen, and his in-laws, C. Lee and Rita Fox.
Kendall is survived by his wife, Teri of Parkersburg; children, Lea (Ryan) Jones and their children, Ayla, Isaiah, and Violet, of Peculiar, MO, Laura (Dustin) Korkow and their daughter, Millie, of Waterloo, Jessica (Kent) Efkamp and their children, Lucas Jay and Cole of Johnston, and Justin (Olivia) Koenen of Largo, FL; mother, Elaine Koenen of Waterloo; siblings, Corrine (Mark) Yarwood of Waterloo and Daniel (Karen) Koenen of Ankeny; and many other family and friends.
