Margaret Susan Crisp, 103 of Friendship Village, died Wednesday October 18, 2023, at Friendship Village. She was born August 19, 1920, at the family farm four miles NW of New Hartford, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ira and Clara (Wessel) Gowman.

She went to school in New Hartford. Then she graduated from Gates Business College in Waterloo and worked as a secretary at the Rath Packing Co for four and a half years. While she was attending church at First Methodist Church, she met her husband the late Marlin Crisp. They were united in marriage at First Methodist Church June 6, 1943, and started their family and she worked as bookkeeper/owner for the Crisp Service Company for twenty-nine and a half years.

Margaret is survived by two sons, Dale (Linda) Crisp of Waterloo, and Jay (Maurine) Crisp of LaPorte City; her daughter Jackie (Rod) Kauten of Parkersburg, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Crisp, two infant sons, James and Craig, infant grandson Jeremy, and granddaughter Kathleen.

Celebration of Life with family and friends will be at Wellspring Living Health Center Friendship Village at 580 Park Lane Waterloo, IA 5070 this Sunday October 22, 2023, 12:00 - 3:00 PM.

Condolences

Having grown up with Dale through middle school and high school, I knew Merlin and Margaret very well. Dale and me and other friends spent many happy hours in their living room planning our amazing futures. We occasionally received a small correction from Margaret here and there on our paths to greatness, but really she was very very kind overall. She was a kind sole who will be missed.
