James F. Wheeler, 89, of Reinbeck, formerly of Hudson, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on October 30, 1935, in Waterloo, son of Ferrel F. and Ruth P. Edwards Wheeler. James graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1960.

James married Sharon K. Kuyper on June 27, 1957. She preceded him death on November 21, 1995. He then married Anna Mae Rubendall on October 17, 1998, in Waterloo.

He worked for Honeywell Company as a senior systems specialist, until he retired in 1998. James was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church in Waterloo. He served on the Black Hawk County Sheriffs Reserve. James enjoyed his guns and spending time on his gadgets and technology.

James is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Wheeler of Reinbeck; one daughter, Kimberly (Mike) Wolff; granddaughter, Brooke (Shawn) Ohlms; three great-grandchild, Hailey, Hollyn, and Hudson, all of Missouri; step-daughter, Shari (Bryan) Wiebensohn of Gladbrook; step-son, Jason Walters of Reinbeck; two step-grandchildren, Sierra and Kole Wiebensohn; and a sister-in-law, Linda Smith of Ankeny.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sharon Wheeler; one daughter, Kelly Wheeler; and sister, Doris Wheeler.

Funeral Services: 11:00 AM Monday, March 3, 2025, at Hagerman Baptist Church, 1105 Knoll Ave., Waterloo, with burial in Lincoln Township Cemetery, in rural Hudson, and military rites by Reinbeck American Legion Post 242 and Iowa Army National Guard. Visitation is for one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo is assisting the family; 319-233-3146.

One of my favorite memories of Jim was how quickly he could back up a trailer full of canoes with that Willy's jeep. Thankful for all the memories!
