Ruth A. Nicholson, 86, of Waverly, formerly of Waterloo, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Waverly Health Center.

She was born on April 24, 1937, in Sumner, daughter of Erwin H. and Ida M. Riffenberg Kuker. Ruth graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1955.

Ruth married Harold Pritchard; he preceded her in death on May 27, 1963. She then married Orren G. Nicholson on September 28, 1984; he preceded her in death on June 23, 2023.

She worked at the Waverly Hospital and Bartels Nursing Home for 19 years before retirement. She was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Rock.

Ruth is survived by her children, Marvin (Robyn) Kuker of Waverly, Debbie (Kim) Mauldin of Cedar Rapids, Ken (Becky) Nicholson of Waterloo, and Dennis (Gary) Nicholson of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Bolte of Cedar Falls; and one brother Jim (Nancy) Kuker of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Geri Kuker; son, Michael Nicholson; two husbands; granddaughter, Kelly Nicholson, two brothers, Robert and Larry Kuker; and one sister, Gladys Peters.

Graveside Memorial Services with inurnment will take place at 11 am, Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice. Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., is assisting the family, 319-233-3146
