Zelma Mae Frickson

Zelma Mae Frickson, 93, of Cedar Falls, died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital.

She was born on July 25, 1930, in Waterloo, daughter of Edward and Josephine Johnson Stanford.

She married William Donald "Bill" Frickson on August 10, 1946, in Waverly; he died August 25, 2021.

Zelma was a homemaker in her own home and enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for the children's birthdays. She gardened and did her own canning. She also liked doing crossword puzzles. She really enjoyed being a grandma and adored her grandchildren. She spent time with her coffee group and gambling, especially at Bingo.

She is survived by: daughter, Lillian (Bob) Kemmerer, Solon, IA; son, Don (Sandra) Frickson Sr., Cedar Falls, IA; daughter, Twila Woods, Hardy, AR; son, Kevin (Sue) Frickson, Highland, AR; son, Dwayne (Ronda) Frickson, Shellsburg, IA; daughter, Lisa Harmon, Geneva, IL; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Clarence Fecht; and several nieces and nephews.

Zelma is preceded in death by parents; husband; grandson, William H. "Willie" Frickson; great granddaughter, Rayn Alliss; siblings: George, Ray and Ivan Stanford and Bernice Kent and Marilyn Coleman.

Funeral Services: 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Locke at Tower Park, 1440 Kimball Ave., Waterloo.

Visitation: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, November 10, 2023, at Locke at Tower Park, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Cremation to follow services.
