Military Honors Funeral

At Locke Funeral Services, we are deeply committed to helping families honor the lives and legacies of their loved ones who served in the United States Armed Forces.

What Do Military Honors Include?

Common elements include:

  • Rifle Salute – A ceremonial gun salute performed by a military or veterans’ honor guard.
  • Taps – The playing of this solemn bugle call marks the end of a veteran’s service.
  • Folding and Presentation of the Flag – A U.S. flag is respectfully folded and presented to the next of kin.

Veterans who retired from active service may be eligible for additional honors.

How do I Request Military Honors?

You don’t have to navigate this alone. Our team will assist you in arranging military honors, coordinating with:

  • The appropriate branch of service
  • Local Veterans Service Organizations such as the American Legion, VFW, or AMVETS

We ensure that every detail is handled with care and respect.

What Documentation is Required?

To arrange military honors, you’ll need a copy of your loved one’s discharge papers (DD-214) showing an Honorable Discharge. If you’re unsure where to find this document, we can help you obtain a copy.

Once we have the documentation, we can help you navigate the process of selecting the best service elements to honor your lost hero.

Are There Additional Costs?

There are no extra costs associated with military honors. However, families may choose to donate to the Veterans Service Organization that performs the honors. These donations help cover the cost of uniforms and supplies for the honor guard.

If you have additional questions about costs or how we approach military honors services, don’t hesitate to contact us.
