Willie Douglas Guyton, 52, of Waterloo, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at UnityPoint Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Willie was born on June 9, 1970, in Vaiden, Mississippi, to his parents Willie Guyton and Marveda (Taylor) Blackmon. He grew up in both Waterloo, IA and Albuquerque, NM. Willie had a career in maintenance. He worked several years at John Deere, and most recently, Tyson Foods in Waterloo.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, grilling, traveling, and being a social butterfly. Will helped a lot of people throughout his life. He was a connector. He was the glue that kept everyone together. He was funny, always cracking jokes. He truly enjoyed life. If you knew Will, you knew he was loyal and always kept his word. He was strong, loving, a great father, husband, and friend. He will be dearly missed by the friends and family he leaves behind.
Will is survived by his wife, ReShonda Young of Waterloo; children Alexis Foster of Oklahoma, Chanel Guyton, Jaevon Guyton, Fajirah Guyton, all of Waterloo, Jazzlyn Guyton of Des Moines, Haevian Cole of MN and Kejuan Smith of Waterloo; 6 grandchildren; siblings Daree Tarbor of Port Byron, IL, Tonya "Jean" Taylor of Waterloo, Taneka "Bean" Smith of Cedar Rapids, Jarvis Guyton of Waterloo, Taiya Smith of Arizona and Angela Jenkins of Mississippi; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Elasandro Taylor.
Visitation for Will will be held on Sunday, June 18th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Locke at Tower Park. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 19th at 1:00 PM at Impact Church of Hope, 710 Broadway Street, Waterloo. Burial will follow services at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family. Locke at Tower Park has been entrusted with arrangements.
