Wilhelm Dauth, 78, of Waterloo, died Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.
He was born October 13, 1944, in Germany, the son of Wilhelm and Minna (Stiehler) Dauth. After completing school, Wilhelm became a blacksmith by trade before moving to the United States in 1973. He then worked at John Deere for 29 years as a heat treatment technician, retiring in 2005.
He married Peggy L. Freeman in Waterloo; they later divorced. She preceded him in death November 27, 2021.
Wilhelm was a member of UAW Local 838 and the Waterloo Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 4074. He collected stamps, coins, and enjoyed tinkering around the house making tinmen. He also enjoyed watching German football (soccer) and playing in his youth.
He is survived by his two daughters, Emily (Isaiah) Jeffrey of Wilsonville, OR, and Anne (Clinton) Williams of Branson, MO; six grandchildren, Cameron Thorgesen, Jillian Dauth, Jayden Jeffrey, Jacob Lipe, Hope Williams, and Chase Williams; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Elfride (Henry Jones) Marcussen of Prairie du Chien, WI; three nephews, Duane Dauth, Andy Marcussen, and Dennis Marcussen; and many other nieces and nephews.
Wilhelm was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Heinrich and Helmut Dauth, and Rudy Stiehler; a sister, Erna Jähnert; and a nephew, Mike Marcussen.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 28 at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, with a 1:00 p.m. time of sharing.
