Vicky Leona Greenway

July 22, 1959 January 8, 2026

Vicky Greenway, 66, of Waterloo, died at her home on Thursday, January 8, 2026, of natural causes, joining her husband of forty years, Dexter Greenway Sr. in heaven.

She was born on July 22, 1959. Vicky obtained her general educational degree from the State of Iowa in 1978. She had previously attended East High School. Vicky was mostly a stay-at-home mom while her kids were growing up and held several part time positions that allowed her to work from home over the years as a sales consultant for Avon, Home Interiors, and Paparazzi Jewelry to name a few. Later in life she held retail and management positions with Pizza Hut and Dollar Tree.

Vicky will be remembered for many things. First and foremost, for being unapologetically honest and exactly who she was. She was funny as hell. She enjoyed collecting antiques, especially Coca-Cola merchandise, attending auctions, concerts, and outdoor music festivals, especially with Dexter while he was alive and going for motorcycle rides with him and their friends.

She is survived by her kids: daughters, Christy, and her husband James Justice of Waterloo, Candace Thein of Waterloo, Cassandra (Bean) Greenway of Evansdale, and her two sons, Dexter Greenway Jr., his wife Madie of Waterloo, and Devin Greenway of Waterloo. Her fifteen grandkids, whom she adored, Gabby, her husband Cory Laney, Takoda, Kierra, Trayten, Samara, Landon, Lilian, Madelynn, Bentley, Audriana, Zane, Scarlett, Jasper, Mikah, and Raelynn.

Her siblings: sisters, Kay Estling of Oelwein; Ruth (Mike) Cummings of Chesterfield’ Virginia; Regina (Darrell) Parmer of Elk Run Heights; and brothers, Jeff Mitchell of San Francisco, California; Ronnie Foxen of Waterloo, Rick (Mary) Foxen of Evansdale; and Rod Thein of Elk Run Heights. She is also survived by numerous cousins, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Prior to her own death, Vicky had sadly said her earthly goodbyes to her husband of forty years, Dexter Greenway Sr., her parents, Laverne and Maggie Thein, her brother Charles (Chuck) Thein, sister Jeanie Barndt, nephews Chris Thein and Josh Cummings, niece Autumn Thein, granddaughter Meagan Justice, and great nephew Kaiden Estling.
