Vera A. Schultz, 75, of Waterloo, died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

Vera Allene was born June 21, 1937 in Postville, Iowa the daughter of Alpha William and Vera Charlotte Meyer Hangartner. She graduated from Clermont High School in 1955; received her LPN degree from Hawkeye Tech in 1981, and a Bachelor of Science with honors in Human Services from Upper Iowa University in 1994.

Vera married Harlan W. Schultz, Jr. November 26, 1955 in Clermont. He died August 23, 1997. Vera worked as a LPN for Newell Post and Adults, Inc. She later worked at Target. She enjoyed traveling, sight-seeing, photography and spending time with her family. While raising her family, she also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening as well as canning and cooking.

Vera is survived by 6 children, 17 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren: son Matt (Deborah) Schultz of Waterloo – his children Sherry Hornung [daughter Klara], Adam (Hannah) Schultz, Andy Schultz; son Tim L. (Susie) Schultz of Waterloo – his children Tim J. (Brittany) Schultz [daughters Sarina and Sophia], Tyler (Courtney) Schultz [children Ashley and Drake], Dale (Deiryanna) Schultz [children Delilah and Dallas], Danny (Brittni) Schultz [son Zachary]; daughter Barbara (Chris) McCulley of Hudson – her children Allan McCulley and Bridget McCulley; son Anthony (Susan) Schultz of Wellsburg – his children Ryan Schultz and Alex Schultz; son Travis (Erica) Schultz of Prescott, AZ – his children Levi Schultz, Logan Schultz, and Ava Schultz; daughter Tarrah (Tyler) Steen of Cedar Falls – her children Wyatt Steen, Marina Steen, and Emmett Steen. She is also survived by 2 sisters: Glenice Thompson of Postville and Paula Ege of Hawkeye.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Bridget Schultz, son Mark in infancy, a grandson Dana Schultz, a great granddaughter Kerrigan Schultz, and a sister Darla Anderson.
