Mother Vedreamo Collett was born to parents Lu Lu Pearl Walker and James Harold Commack, Sr. on July 1, 1952, in Iowa City, IA. She departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, after a long illness.

Mother Collett graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1970. She was a proud member of the Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years and served on the Mother's Board as well as the Kitchen Committee. Mother Collett loved her church family and her Pastor & 1st Lady. She showed her love by graciously giving her time, money and resources to her church. Even though she was ill and in pain, she helped with the vending at Mount Carmel's last Sturgis Falls fundraiser for all three days this past June. Mother Collett was a real Soldier for the Lord. At Christmas and Easter, she made sure that all of the youngsters had goody bags full of treats. Mother Collett also served as chaperone for Mount Carmel's The Lord's Warriors Drill team traveling with them on many trips.

Mother Collett loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was so proud of them. Mother Collett enjoyed watching those old time shootem ups on TV.

Mother Vedreamo Collette, lovingly called "Dreamer" or "Dreama" leaves to cherish her memory, her stepmother, Delores Commack; three daughters, Mohaganoey Smith, Doreatha "Tweety" Collett and Kela Collett of Waterloo, IA; four sisters, Senoria (Lonnie) Rogers of Arizona, Tina Commack Ball of Arizona; Janella Rollinger of AZ; and Rhonda Banks of Waterloo, IA; three stepsisters, Rhonda Keeling of GA, Bridget Keeling and Tonya Keeling both of Waterloo, IA; one god-sister, Reneé (Chris) Weston-Smart of Slidell, LA; one sister in law, Helen Commack of AZ; one aunt, Ruccell Pearson of Waterloo, IA; three brothers, Clyde Roby of MS, Cornelius Walker and Carlos Walker both of Waterloo, IA: one step-brother, Pastor Tony (Esther) Keeling of Detroit, MI; an adopted son, Cedric (Tracey) Hill, Sr., 11 grandchildren, her Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church family and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mother Vedreamo Collett was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother Doreatha Smith, three sisters, Gabrielle Walker, Gaytona Walker and Louise Roby; one daughter, Civa Smith, one grandson Jeremy Smith, one god-daughter Lela Christine Blackmon, two aunts, Josie Vivians and Mardena Banks; three uncles, Donald Commack, Lee Samuel Commack, and Paul Commack; and one niece Kourtney Green.

Memorial Services: 1:30 PM on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Locke on 4th is in charge of arrangements.
