TiShun Dontrell Spates

Ti Shun Dontrell Spates, 33, of Waterloo, IA, died on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at his home of natural causes. He was born September 5, 1990 in Waterloo, the son of Ulanda and Tina Biddle Spates. Ti Shun graduated from East High School in 2009. He worked on the Cab assembly line at John Deere at the time of his death.

Ti Shun loved his children. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was the life of the party at any gathering. He was also a very hard worker and always strived to do his best.

He is survived by his parents; his son, TayShaun Spates of Arizona and his daughter, Taveah Spates of Waterloo; sisters, Shatoria "Toy" Spates and Kalisha "Kay" Spates and a brother, Tylandis "Man" Spates, all of Waterloo; a special nephew, TaeMarri Alford of Texas and a special niece, Amira Gilley of Waterloo. Also survived by his grandmother, Cathy Biddle and grandfather Willie C. Biddle, great-grandmother, Thelma Taylor' all of Waterloo; and a host of family and friends.

Ti Shun is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Annie Mae Spates McNealy; paternal grandfather, William McNealy; maternal great-grandfather, Wilbert "Ed" Hill; and maternal great-grandmother, Goldie Biddle.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 305 Merriman St., Waterloo.

Ti Shun was a loving son, brother, friend, and caring father. He was truly a stand-up guy.

Funeral Services: 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church, 426 Sumner St., Waterloo with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Waterloo.

Visitation: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th St., Waterloo and for one hour before services at the church.
