Tan’Niaah Shar’Quette Spates

Tan'Niaah S. Spates, 43, of Waterloo, IA, died Saturday, May 15, 2021 at home. She was born April 11, 1978 in Waterloo, the daughter of Robert Lee Alexander Jr. and Bettye Jean Spates.

Tan'Niaah enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, working, taking rides and shopping with Santrice.

Tan'Niaah is survived by: mother, Bettye Spates; sons, T'Vontis Gully, T'Vonn Gully, T'Vontae Gully, T'Vyon Gully, Tae'Qwan Gully, Tae'Qwavyon Spates, Tae'Marion Gully, Tony Flowers, Jr., and Tai'Jon Flowers; daughters, T'Vonshai Gully' Mercedes Mosley, Tai'Niyah Flowers, Tai'Yanah Flowers; sisters, Shakesha Spates, Shonnette Sallis, Ta'Shanti Robinson, Ta'Aiya Spates, Quintella Palfrey; brothers, Tah'Mez Spates, Sharmondus Sallis; 8 grandchildren; 3 nephews; and 4 nieces.

She is preceded in death by father, Robert Alexander Jr.; sister, Ta'Eshee Spates; maternal grandparents, John T. and Annie Spates; paternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Mary Alexander.
