Susan Diane Clark

Susan D. Clark, 60, of Waterloo, IA died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of Graves Disease.

She was born May 4, 1957 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Carol Bethke and Charles Shower. She graduated from Schaumburg High School in 1975 and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern University in December of 1978.

Susan married Dennis Clark September 22, 1979 in Schaumburg. She served as a Registered Nurse in the U.S. Army retiring with the rank of Captain.

She taught nursing at Hawkeye Community College and was a Registered Nurse for Cedar Valley Hospice for 18 years.

She was a member of Waterloo First United Methodist Church, TTT, PEO Chapter JP, and the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony Guild.

Susan loved being a nurse; her time with Hospice was so fulfilling. She was passionate about helping others from many groups always going above and beyond. Susan’s generosity gave her great joy. She had a patriotic zeal when that included her support of our veterans and veteran’s organizations. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband Dennis of Waterloo, a son Brandt Clark of Atlanta, GA; a daughter Sarah (Jason Dobes) Clark of Waterloo; and sons Cayden Clark and Lucas Clark both at home. She is also survived by a brother Steven (Kim) Shower of IL, a brother Michael (Anna) Shower of Waterloo, a sister: Leeann (Frank) Schmidt of IL, a brother Jack (Andy) Bethke of NY and her mother in law Lorraine Clark of Waterloo.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, 3 infant children, and father in law Dale Clark.
