Sue Ann Skinner

August 10, 1948 May 23, 2024

Sue Ann Skinner, 75, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 10, 1948, in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Harold and Edith Bachtell Williams. Sue graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1967, and married Thomas H. Skinner on June 24, 1967. Sue and Tom owned Hawkeye Towing for 20 years and worked side-by-side.

Sue loved life, laughing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She always made certain others were cared for before she took care of herself. Sue enjoyed baking and cooking-especially the family famous HoHo Cake. She told it like it was in a loving way and then couldn't figure out why you were offended by what she said. Humor was a significant part of Sue's life, whether telling stories or experiencing things like trying to fit a baby stroller through a revolving door. NFL, NASCAR, camping and spending time outdoors with the grandkids were all highlights for Sue. Her family wonders if Sue loved her cats more than them. Sue's favorite holiday was Christmas and she enjoyed shopping, decorating, and entertaining friends. She collected everything "snowman" and even decorated her Christmas tree in the shape of a snowman.

Sue is survived by her husband, Tom of Waterloo; children Tammy (Doug Hayungs) Skinner-Shaver of Mesa, AZ, and Tom (Bridgette) Skinner of Jesup; grandchildren Amber (Jake) Burns of La Porte City, Jenna (Cole Johnson) Hayungs of La Porte City, Brionnah Hayungs of Mesa, Megan (Michael) Steadman of Cedar Rapids, Nathan Skinner of Evansdale; great grandchildren Letty, Roger, and Jordy Burns and Coleson Johnson who is soon to arrive. Also, sisters Deborah Bachtell of Waterloo and Teresa Becker of Evansdale; and brother Scott Williams of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her daughter Trisha Kay Skinner, her parents, and brother Gary Williams.
