Steven “Steve” Neils Rodger, 76, of Waterloo, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. He was born on August 31, 1949 in Iowa Falls, IA, to Red and

Evelyn Rodger. The family moved to Waterloo where he attended and graduated from East High School in 1968. After high school, he was in the Marine Reserves for seven years. He married Mary Howland on December 30, 1975. They made their home in Waterloo where Steve worked as an autobody technician and painter for Anderson Collision and Coffman’s Body Shop until he retired in 2020. He loved watching TV, especially Gunsmoke and any movie that starred John Wayne. He was also partial to The Three Stooges, which baffled his wife. He loved attending NASCAR races and NHRA drag races with his daughter, Julie.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary, his daughter, Julie and his dog, Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents Red and Evelyn Rodger and his sister, Janice Carroll.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
