Stephen “Steve” Eugene Zuzich

Stephen E. "Steve" Zuzich, 70, of Waterloo, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at his home in Waterloo.

Steve was born on August 20, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Eugene and Wilda (Sobotka) Zuzich. He graduated from Cocalico High School in Denver, Pennsylvania. After graduation, Steve began working at his family's trucking company, Zephyr Transport; he played many important roles in the company.

On August 17, 1985, Steve was united in marriage to Kim Ott and the couple were overjoyed to welcome three sons into their family, Zach, Zane, and Zared. The two later divorced.

Steve was a former member of the local Elks Lodge. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking, and watching football, especially his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. He was a great father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; his family meant everything to him. When his grandchildren were born, he doted on them every chance he could get. Steve was known to be a social butterfly and loved to visit friends and family every chance he could. He was a selfless man who had the biggest heart and if you knew Steve, you knew this with certainty and knew if you ever needed help, Steve would be there. He was a good storyteller, telling the best stories that his family will always remember. His family said throughout his 70 years, he had nine lives, always defying the odds. His life ended unexpectedly, but the memories and the love Steve shared will carry the family during this difficult time. Godspeed Steve, you will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his sons Zach (Pricilla) Zuzich of Cedar Rapids and Zared Zuzich of Waterloo; grandchildren Charlie Zuzich, Zayden Zuzich, and Asher Zuzich; sister Dede (Scott) Romich; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friend Cindy Schares. He rejoins in Heaven his parents; son Zane Zuzich; sister Pam Zuzich.

Visitation for Steve will be held on Wednesday, March 13th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa. There will be no formal funeral service and inurnment will take place at a later date in Kansas City, MO. Memorials may be directed to the family.
