Sondra Kay Roby

Sondra Kay Roby, 72, of Davenport and formerly of Waterloo, died on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center-East.

Sondra was born on September 2, 1952, in Waterloo, to the proud parents of Lawrence C. and Connie Lee (Wortham) Seals, Jr. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1970 and went on to earn her nursing certificate. Sondra worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for St. Francis Hospital.

Sondra's greatest passion was going to Church-it did not matter where you ran into Sondra, she always had her bible. She was a member of 3rd Missionary Baptist Church in Davenport IA. She also loved playing cards, shopping, and fashion, especially accessorizing her clothes, shoes, jewelry, and hair. She loved her family and everyone that met her loved her in their own unique way. In her short life, Sondra was loved, admired and she will truly be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Tyrone C. Seals, sister, Vicky A. Seals-Sanders, and ex-husband, Duane A. Whitis, Sr.

Sondra leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, McKinley Roby of Coralville; sons, Duane A. Whitis of Davenport, Delario F. Skipper of Marian, and Julien M. Skipper of Davenport; brothers, Larry (Roxanne) Seals, Jr. and Robert Horton, both of Davenport; sister, Tina Seals of Davenport; and a large host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

We all love you and you will be deeply missed, Sondra.

Visitation and Funeral Service: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery-Waterloo.
