Shirley Ann Schweertman

Shirley Ann Schweertman, 85, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024, while a resident of Friendship Village. She was born November 28, 1938, the daughter of Grace Schweertman. Her spouse was Carl Beckmann. Shirley worked for Warren Transport, Inc. for 57 years, filling many positions and retiring as office manager. She also owned a DX gas station with Carl for many years.

Shirley was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also served on the board of Regency North Condo Association and the Molinaro Family Charitable Foundation. Shirley became a part of the Molinaro family when she was 14 years old and this close bond continued until her death.

Shirley enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and Florida. She found joy in collecting Lladro figurines. In her free time, Shirley took pleasure in visiting the salon and watching True Crime TV shows and Hallmark movies. She had a distinct love of shrimp. Shirley delighted in spending much time with her grandchildren and going to their numerous events. She is remembered as a loving person who put a lot of thought into gift giving. Shirley had a kind word and a smile for everyone she encountered.

Shirley is survived by her grandchildren, M.E. and Henrietta Molinaro-Blonigan, as well as Mary Robin and Bryan Molinaro-Blonigan, Frances Molinaro, Lisa (Vaune) Beckmann and their children and grandchild, Diane (Rick) Thome and Gary (Bev) Beckmann. She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Schweertman, spouse Carl Beckmann, and also Ron (Judy) Beckmann.

Funeral mass for Shirley will be Friday, October 11, 2024, at St. Edward Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with visitation for an hour prior to the mass. Burial will be at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
