Sharon Lee Reid 76, of Hudson, Iowa passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Cedar Valley Hospice House on the evening of August 3rd, 2026.

Sharon was born on December 31, 1949, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was one of five children born to Frank and Mary (Dougherty) Anderson.

Sharon graduated from Perry High School in 1969, and then attended college in Omaha, NE.

Sharon married Bill Mason in 1972 and together they had one daughter, Shara Long, in 1973. Bill and Sharon later divorced.

Years passed and Sharon helped her parents in various restaurants. She eventually landed in Hudson, Iowa where her parents owned Mary’s Café. There she met her forever husband Duane Reid. They married on July 14,1984 and together had one son, Travis, in 1985. Sharon welcomed two bonus children, Stefanie and Darren, to the family.

Sharon’s career led her to manage the Happy Wok Restaurant at Crossroads Mall for many years, where she worked with her best friend, Linda and her daughter Shara. A great deal of fun was had there with the staff and customers.

Sharon made a career change and took specialized classes to become a pharmacy tech for Osco and CVS, where she worked for many years. She enjoyed her coworkers and helping customers she saw on a regular basis.

Sharon and Duane had a huge passion for craft shows and spent many years and hours building and staining pieces that people loved. They made several friends along the way and had numerous stories to share. His handy work and her ability to apply the finishing touches made them a great team.

Another place you could find Sharon and Duane, was at the casino. Sharon loved to push buttons and usually did very well on the slot machines. They also enjoyed following a friend who was an Elvis impersonator.

Sharon and Duane had a huge love for the Iowa Hawkeyes and rarely missed catching a game, whether it was football or basketball, and usually had one of their dogs that she loved, Bandit or Herky close by. Sharon more recently became a Caitlin Clark fan as well and enjoyed watching the Indiana Fever games.

The couple also loved to travel. One of their most memorable adventures was an Alaskan cruise. They also took trips to deliver units from Porta Vet, which Duane managed for many years. Sharon and Duane also had a passion for the Amvets in Hudson and spent many Saturday nights cooking at the community steak fry on several occasions. It was a fun time for all. They also found themselves enjoying time at the Oelwein campground, where once again, they knew everyone and used their cooking skills to provide numerous breakfasts of biscuits and gravy for all. Their time was cut short when Duane became ill. Sharon spent two years being his care giver and did a wonderful job. In 2010 her soulmate passed away, and Sharon’s heart was broken; she leaned on family and many good friends. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, even though her health took a downward turn over the years, and she wasn’t able to be as active as she wanted to be.

She could be the life of the party in her prime and was always up for an adventure. Over the years there were many trips to Roland, Davenport, Vegas, and beyond, to spend time with family. In 2018 Sharon took one of her last big trips with her sister-in-law Sheri. Together they traveled the west coast and went on the most amazing adventures including Vegas to see her brother and sister-in-law, toured many casinos, traveled to Oregon to see Sheri’s son, mom’s nephew, and the list goes on and on; it was trip she loved so much.

Sharon is greatly missed by her family and friends already and has reunited with Duane, as her heart has been ready for some time. Stories will continue being shared to keep her memory alive for years to come.

Left to cherish Sharon are her son Travis Reid, wife Monica, of Hudson, daughter Shara Long and husband Brian of Algona, daughter Stefanie Lorenzen, husband Craig, of Dysart, son Darren Reid, wife Lindsay, of West Des Moines, Iowa, sister Sandy Adams, of Corning, Iowa, brother Carey Anderson, wife, Diana, of Las Vegas, sister-in-law Sheri Anderson, of Ames, Iowa, sister-in-law Lois Gerlits, husband, Don, of Idaho, also 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Sharon in passing are husband Duane Reid, first husband Bill Mason, parents, Frank and Mary Anderson, great grandson Soren Goken, brother Terry Anderson, brother Denny Anderson, sister-in-law, Ranae Anderson, brother-in-law, John Adams, father-in-law Fred Reid, sister-in-law Waunita, brother-in-law Jim Reid, sister-in-law Donita Goddard, brother-in-law Bill Goddard and sister-in-law Charlotte McGovern, nephew Jimmy McGovern.

Prayer Services: 12:30 PM Monday, August 10, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, with burial Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation: 11:00 AM until the prayer service at the funeral home.
