Sharon K. Cook, 77, of Waterloo, died Monday, September 9, 2024, at her home.
She was born May 14, 1947, in Decorah, IA., daughter of Earl and Marjorie E (Bakkum) Moe. Sharon graduated from Decorah High School in 1965. She married Otha William "Bill" Cook on July 4, 1969, in Las Vegas, NV. He died April 29, 2008.
Sharon worked for the Social Security Office for 36 years in Administration. She then went on to work for CVCSS for 20+ yrs., retiring in 2022. She was confirmed and baptized at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, Decorah. Sharon was currently attending the Trinity Bible Church, Cedar Falls.
She was a woman who loved life, outwitting people at playing cards and dancing with her closest girlfriends. Sharon's love for the outdoors started when she was young, preferring to do chores outside of the house and it continued until her passing.
Sharon was a sentimental woman, hence her passion for Genealogy, turning old clothes of her loved ones into quilts, potholders, and blankets. Out of her passion for collecting memories are photos of her living her best life; traveling with her sisters and loved collecting photos of her family.
She is survived by her children, William C. (Anna) Cook of Council, ID, and Kellie I. Cook of Cedar Falls; two granddaughters, Alexiss Grant and Ellie Miller Cook; three sisters, Marilyn Sensor of Decorah, JoAn Headington of Waverly, and Donna Zidlicky of Waukon; two brothers: Dale (Joan) Moe of Eau Claire, WI, and Arlyn (Pam) Moe of Decorah, brother-in-law, Milo Harper of Billings, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Sharon is preceded by her husband, Bill; brothers-in-law, Dennis Zidlicky and Charles Sensor; and sister-in-law, Patsy Harper.
Funeral Services will be 11:00am Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, with burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park. Memorials are directed to the Elmwood Cemetery, Hirshberg Foundation for pancreatic cancer research, or to the Cook family in which all proceeds will be used for a memorial bench at Elmwood Cemetery.
