Sandra (Sandy) Thieman Schipper


Sandy Schipper, 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Friendship Village Wellspring, Waterloo. She was born on July 6, 1937, to Fay and Carlyn Thieman. Sandy graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1955 and attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (now U.N.I.). She married Glenn E. Eickelberg, Jr. in 1957. They were later divorced. She married Paul Schipper in 1986. He passed away in March 2011.

Sandy was Corporate Treasurer of Peoples Mutual Savings and Loan where she worked for fifteen years. She was self-employed at Midtown Management and later was Vice-President of Regional Services for Covenant Medical Center. She was later employed by St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids as Director of Physician Recruitment. At the end of her career, she was self-employed at Medical Management, Ltd. where she continued to do physician recruitment for St. Luke’s and medical management consulting for smaller hospitals and independent medical groups as well as converting rural clinics to the Rural Health System.

She was a past Board Member of the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, past President of Chapter FE, P.E.O., past Board Member of the Grout Museum District, member of the Diplomats of the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce and member of the First United Methodist Church of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and her parents.

She is succeeded by sons, Rick (Kim) Eickelberg and Jeffrey Eickelberg and his special friend, Denise Weil, two step-children, Tom Schipper and Julie Schipper, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, special friend, Chris Kjar, members of the Searchers Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church, her bridge clubs, Mah Jong group and many others.
