Sally Maryann Terpstra

Sally Maryann Terpstra, 90, of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Sally was born on February 16, 1935, in Waterloo, to Carl Alfred and Sarah Elizabeth (Hilton) Patmore. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1953. Sally married Charles Russell Terpstra on April 3, 1971, in Galena, IL; he preceded her in death on January 10, 2009.

Sally worked briefly as a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio before joining Northwestern Bell full-time as an Operator, retiring after 20 years in 1976. She has attended Prairie Lakes Church since it moved to its current Cedar Falls location.

Sally grew up during the Depression when wearing dresses made from flour sacks was a regular part of life, and she considered herself fortunate that her father worked at Rath Packing Company because that meant that they always had meat to eat. Gardening, raising chickens, and hanging out with friends kept her busy back then, and as an adult she enjoyed going out to admire her flowers in her own garden until macular degeneration and arthritis set in with a vengeance.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carl Adelbert Patmore.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Anita Schuck of Waterloo; stepsons, Mark of

Henderson, NV, Brian (Kris) and Michael (Becky), both of Fort Collins, CO., and Kevin (Chris) of Grand Junction, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Service: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th St., Waterloo.

Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery-Waterloo.
