Sally-Jo Yarrington, 88 of Aplington, formerly of Waterloo, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Maple Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 12, 1938, in Waterloo, daughter of Leslie L. and Ethel R. (Alexander) McCreedy. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1956 and attended Iowa State Teachers College.

She married David C. Yarrington on September 6, 1958, at the Waterloo First United Methodist Church. David passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012. Sally-Jo worked as the Secretary for Waterloo First United Methodist Church for over 23 years. She enjoyed crocheting, watching all of Hawkeye sports, spending time coloring on her ipad or listening to the Gaither’s.

Sally-Jo is survived by her son, Scott Yarrington and his wife, Kim of Hiawatha; daughter, Carla Mulder and her husband, Gaylen of Parkersburg, Iowa; son, Robert Yarrington and his wife, Terri of Cedar Falls; ten grandchildren: Michael, Seth (Brooke), Danae (Cory), Justin (Megan), Shane (Kara), Rebecca (Allen), Dylan, Caitlyn (Ash), Diana, and Elena. Five great grandchildren and sister, Sharon (Bill) Whiting of Spirit Lake.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David, her great granddaughter, Vivienne Jo Smith, her parents, and sister, Shirley Clark.

There will be a private family service with committal at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
