Sada A. Fleming, 93, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of Ridgeway Place in Waterloo, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 1, 2007, of natural causes.
She was born January 4, 1914, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of John and Lucile Badger Swope. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1932.
She married Othal Fleming on November 2, 1935, in Galena, Illinois. He died February 17, 1987.
Sada was a homemaker who had a special talent as a seamstress and at crocheting, which won her several awards. She also enjoyed bowling and volunteered at RSVP.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Waterloo Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by son Gary and his wife Karen of La Porte City, daughter Linda Leibold of Waterloo, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Sada is also survived by two brothers: Al Swope of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, and Roland Swope and his wife Betty of Sacramento, California, and two sisters-in-law: Alberta DeBerg of Cedar Falls and Lois Swope of Cupertino, California.
Sada is preceded in death by her husband O. A. Fleming, son Al Fleming, Jr., daughter Laura Ferguson, grandson Randall Fleming, son-in-law William Leibold, Sr., five sisters: Romaine Michaelson, Aileen Hale, Margaret Enlow, Naomi Schuler and Muriel Jones, and two brothers: John Swope and Charles Swope.
