Ruth E. Middlekauff, 87, of Sunrise Hill Care Center, Traer, formerly of Hudson, died at the care center on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 of advanced Alzheimer’s.

She was born February 8, 1921 in Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Ethel Porter Cowie. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School.

Ruth married Loran Middlekauff, who grew up across the road from her parents’ farm, on May 23, 1959 at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

Ruth was a bookkeeper at Viking Pump in Cedar Falls prior to marrying Loran. She was a very loving and caring person. Ruth was a member of Maple Grove Ladies Aid, Farm Bureau Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Sunshine Club, and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Ruth is survived by her husband Loran and son David Middlekauff, both of Hudson.

She is preceded in death by two brothers in infancy.
