Roy Junior Cole

Roy Junior Cole, 79, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was born March 13, 1942, in Mt. Sterling the son of Roy R. and Sylvia Boyd Cole.

He married Ruby Anderson; they were later divorced. He married Jacalyn Tarbox on November 6, 2004, at Chapel in the Woods in Evansdale.

Roy served in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1963.

He worked for The Maytag Company, retiring after many years.

Survived by: his wife Jacalyn Cole of Waterloo; three daughters, Lynne Golinaux and Patti Gardener both of Newton, Anita (Frank) Coryell of Los Angeles, CA; eight grandchildren, Martha, Laura, Melanie, Matthew, Mark, Mason, Adam and Rachelle; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ralph Cole of Grinnell, Lloyd Cole of Santa Fe, NM, LaVene and Richard Cole both of Newton; and a half-sister, Vicki Lane of Stockport.

Preceded in death by: his father, Roy R.; his mother and stepfather Sylvia and Gerald Sampson; a son, Roy Christopher Cole; a grandson, Andrew "Geno" Aragon; a son-in-law, Mark Gardener; two brothers, Virgil and Harold Cole; and a sister, Arlene Gaskell.
