Roy Allen Juhl

September 19, 1956 May 15, 2025

Roy Allen Juhl, 68, of Waterloo, and formerly of La Porte City, died Thursday, May 15, 2025, while a patient at MercyOne Waterloo. He was born on September 19, 1956, in Waterloo, the son of Eugene and Shirley Hild Juhl. Roy attended school at River Hills and worked for a time at Goodwill Industries. He never married and was a resident of Harmony House in Waterloo.

In his youth, Roy enjoyed fishing, bowling, roller skating and biking. His job was taking out the garbage, and he would get angry if you messed with that task. Roy loved his dog, Charlie. He also enjoyed eating, especially meatloaf. He was known to cut a tree down and burn it where it fell, even if the owner perhaps didn't intend that to happen. Roy liked the staff at Harmony House, and they joked that he thought he was the boss. He had participated in the Special Olympics and had won several medals for various events.

Roy is survived by his siblings Thomas Juhl of La Porte City, Gary (Patricia) Juhl of La Porte City, Helen (Steve) Adair of Reinbeck, Timothy Juhl of Waterloo, and Tony Juhl of Waterloo, and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family graveside services will be at West View Cemetery in La Porte City. Memorial contributions should be directed to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lockefuneralservices.com.
