Rosie B. Norman

Rosie Norman, 95, of Waterloo, Iowa, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, of natural causes at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Rosie was born August 25, 1929, in Holmes County, Mississippi, the daughter of John and Florence (Creamer) Gary.

Rosie graduated from Holmes County Technical School in 1947. After graduating from high school, she moved to Waterloo. She received a certification in Nurse's Aide and began working at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo.

Rosie married Charles L. Norman February 19, 1949. From this union six children were born, four sons Perry (Valerie) Norman, Raymond Norman, Carl (Dianne) Norman, and Timothy Norman, two daughters Linda Matlock and Brenda (Horace) Corey, all of Waterloo.

After starting her family, she left her career as a Nurse's Aide to become a Homemaker. Becoming a Homemaker was natural to her. She found joy in caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and friend for many generations.

Rosie enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and making handmade quilts for her loved ones. She loved her family, and she was devoted to nurturing them. Even during the time she battled breast cancer. Rosie was a 24-year breast cancer survivor. She had a 7-year bout with dementia.

She leaves to cherish memories: Her 6 children, 30 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, 26 great great grandchildren, 3 brothers Issac Gary, George (Ruby) Gary, Arthur Gary, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandsons Shawontya Norman Sr., LaVance Cooper Sr., a great grandson Carion Norman (infancy), 3 sisters Johnnie Shannon, Lillie Roby, Shirley Gary and brother Georgette Gary (infancy).
