Rosemarie Elizabeth Coburn, lovingly known as Rose, 69, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Rose was born on August 31, 1957, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Fred and Roseanna (Schommer) Baker. She grew up in Janesville, Iowa, where her story began before life took her on many adventures.
With a love for plants and flowers, Rose earned a degree in horticulture from Hawkeye Community College and spent time working as a florist. Later in life, Rose spent many years in North Cedar with her fiancé, Larry Boyer, and enjoyed spending time with friends at the local clubhouse.
A true social butterfly, Rose enjoyed being around people and was always ready for a good conversation. She had a great sense of style, loved looking her best, and you would rarely catch her without rings on every finger. She had a fun-loving personality and enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola and Betty Boop memorabilia. Whether adding to her collections or spending time with friends and loved ones, Rose found joy in the things that made life uniquely hers.
Rose was especially proud of her three sons and five grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them and the memories they made together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Roseanna Baker.
Rose is survived by her fiancé, Larry Boyer; her daughter and three sons with Dwight Coburn, Heather (Dawn) Coburn, Aaron (Lyndi) Coburn, Kyle (Brenna) Coburn, and Tyler Coburn; and her five beloved grandchildren, Miles Coburn, Colt Coburn, Brooklyn Coburn, Ariana Coburn, and Chloe Mahowald.
She is also survived by her siblings, Deb Baker-Baldwin of Cedar Falls, Susan (Alvin) Licoan of Ookala, HI, Fred (Dorothy) Baker of Beaufort, SC, Cheryl Conaway of Sumner, and Jeffrey Baker of Anamosa.
Rose will be remembered for her outgoing spirit, her love of collecting, and, most importantly, the love she had for her family. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain with those who knew her.
