Ronald L Mangrich

LaPorte City-Ronald L. Mangrich, 80, of LaPorte City, died in his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. He was born February 21, 1944, in Waterloo, son of Paul and Elma M. Sondag Mangrich. Ron graduated from Don Bosco High School. He then graduated from Omaha Technical Trade School. He married Peggy L. Frost on Aug. 1, 1964, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville. Ron worked at John Deere for over 36 years until he retired in 1999, from the TCAO on Donald St.

He was a man of many talents and interests. Ron was an all-around handy guy and a true craftsman. If he wasn’t busy on his hobby farm enjoying life, you might find him woodworking, welding, spending some time drag racing or working for Rick Spence.

Ron is survived by his wife, Peggy, and his children: Jodi (John) Lamos of Gilbertville; Troy (Christine) Mangrich of Colorado Springs, CO., Rhonda (Jay) Jorgensen of Plainfield, Il. and daughter in law, Amy Mangrich of Waterloo. Seven grandchildren: Stephanie Ann Mangrich, Michael (Ashley) Lamos, Bob (Stephanie Sue) Mangrich, Mitchell (Jessica) Lamos, Ben Jorgensen, Katie Jorgensen and Monroe Mangrich. Four great grandchildren: Kennedy, Robby, Hazel, and Sadlar. Brothers: Gary Mangrich of Gilbertville, Dennis (Marlene) Mangrich of Gilbertville, Dave (Crystal) Mangrich of Jesup, and Jeff (Denise) Mangrich of Gilbertville. Two sisters: Karen (Mort) Wendling of Gilbertville, and Pam (Kim) Lockard of Jesup. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Brent Ryan Mangrich, sister-in-law, Jeanne Mangrich and Brian Jo Mangrich.

Funeral services will be 10:30 Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville. Burial will in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilbertville.

Visitation will be 4:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, April 5, 2024, with a 6:30pm prayer service at Locke on 4th (1519 W. 4th St.).
