Ronald G. Geisler Jr., 82, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.
Ron was born December 13, 1939, in Waterloo, to Ronald G. Sr. and Enid Cornelison Geisler. He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1957.
He owned Waterloo Prosthetics, a dental laboratory, retiring in 2004. Ron liked to say that he created "smiles."
Ron married Michalle Sulentic Riggs in June 2002. They had been high school sweethearts and then reconnected in 2000. They loved traveling to Arizona during the cold Iowa winters.
Ron was a talented musician and singer, a skilled woodworker, a gifted artist, and an outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. A highlight of Ron's life was when his band, The Southern Knights, was invited by the U.S. Department of Defense to perform a 56-day tour overseas for our servicemen and women taking them to West Germany, Egypt, and Israel in 1986. They were thrilled to perform for the 86th Airborne at an amphitheater on the banks of the Red Sea.
He is survived by his wife, Michalle; sons, Greg (Lisa) Geisler of Cedar Falls and Dan (Sue) Geisler of Waterloo; sisters, Barbara Kepple of Waterloo and Judith (Jerry) Stealy of Cedar Falls; grandsons, Jason Geisler of North Liberty and Travis Geisler of Cedar Falls; four step-children: Scott (Dr. Sheila) Riggs of Eagan, Minnesota, Daniel (Rebekah) Riggs of Newport Beach, California, Robert (Sandy) Riggs of McKinney, Texas, and Nicole (Dr. Charles) Pruchno of Robins; six step-grandchildren: Georgia Riggs, Tess O'Keefe, Micah Riggs, Brayden Kelly, Jordan Count and Kaci Miller; and three stepsons: Rod, Randy and Rick Mumm.
Ron is preceded in death by his father, Ronald G. Geiser Sr.; his mother, Enid Geisler Wilson; a brother-in-law, Dave Kepple; and a nephew, Jeffrey Stealy.
Visitation: 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th St., Waterloo. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer.
