Ronald F. Stahl, 69, of Waterloo, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Wednesday, September 3, 2008.

Ronald Fred Stahl was born April 22, 1939, in Ocheyedan, Iowa, son of Fred and Maxine McDonald Stahl.

Ron married Carol Buysman on July 7, 1990, in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

He graduated in 1958 from Ocheyedan High School.

Ron was a trumpeter and played for the Fez Fritchie Band, Eddie Skeets Band, and Marv Reedstrom Band as well as with Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and others. Ron also worked at John Deere from 1966 until retiring in 1995. After retiring he drove for Bill Doran Co. Wholesale Florist.

He was a volunteer at Roosevelt School, on the Vestry at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, and belonged to N.E. Iowa Motorcycle Club for many years, and past president of Gates Park Neighborhood Association.

Ron is survived by his wife Carol of Waterloo; son Mike Stahl of Atlantic City, New Jersey; daughter Chantel Boeschen and her husband Reinhard of Waterloo; daughter Christine Nieman and her husband Tim of Waterloo; daughter Stacey Millar and her husband Eric of Washburn; daughter Carrie Mulert and her husband Russ of Omaha, Nebraska; son Craig Bargman and his wife Lola of Waterloo; eighteen grandchildren; sister-in-law Lois Stahl of Ocheyedan, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Hurley and William, and grandson Brandon.
