Robert Paul Friedley

Robert 'Bob' Friedley, 96, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, August 24, 2022. He was born October 7, 1925, in Orange Township, son of Russell and Cleo (Abrams) Friedley. Bob served in the United States Navy during World War II, from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.

On May 5, 1951, Bob married Lucile C Betts, in Waterloo. He worked for Jens Olsen Construction, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Bob enjoyed having children around, he and Lucile took in many foster children over the years. He also enjoyed rummage sales.

Bob is survived by his daughters: Audrey (David) Plum, Charlotte Clay, and Beckie Tobar, all of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren with 2 on the way.

He was preceded in death by sons: Ronald and Duane; sons-in-law: Dean Tobar and Russell Clay; brother Richard; and sisters: Betty Smith and Mary Lou Kelley.

A private family burial will take place.
