Robert Leonard Duncan

Robert L. Duncan, 79 of Waterloo, died at home Monday, May 2, 2011.

He was born January 5, 1932 in Harlingen, Texas, son of Robert and Annie Simmons Duncan.

Robert married Rose C. Dittman on July 23, 1954 at the Marine Corps base in Opalocka, Florida.

He had attended Harlingen, Texas high school.

Robert worked as a federal grain inspector for several years and then worked for the Street Dept. for the City of Waterloo.

He had served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart.

Robert was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Waterloo American Legion Post #138.

He is survived by his wife Rose of Waterloo; son Michael (Mary) Duncan of North St. Paul, MN; daughter Barbara (Dale) Aikey of Plainfield, IA; daughter Mary (Kent) Johannsen of LaPorte City, IA; son Pat (Lora) Duncan of Wellsburg, IA; daughter Theresa (Dean) Aikey of Plainfield, IA; son Dan Duncan of Waterloo, IA; 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his son James Duncan and grandson Jeremy Duncan.
