Robert "Pappy" Papenheim, 74, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 2, 1950, to Gene and Alice Papenheim, Bob lived a life filled with service, devotion, and joy. A proud Marine, he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he spent more than 40 years working as a talented sheet metal specialist and retired from John Deere at the age of 72.
Bob, affectionately known as "Pappy," was a man of unwavering love and loyalty. He dedicated his life to Terri Papenheim, the love of his life, his beloved son BJ, and his cherished grandson Jordan.
Bob's passions extended beyond his family. He loved the freedom of riding his motorcycle, cheering for the Chicago Bears, and enjoying a good beer. He embraced life with humor, warmth, and authenticity, making everyone who knew him feel at ease and appreciated.
Bob is survived by his wife, Terri; his son, BJ; his grandson, Jordan; his daughter-in-law, Sarah Papenheim; his mother-in-law, Fran Martin; brothers Gene and Gary Papenheim; and sister Betty Ford; brother-in-law Jim Martin, his sister-in-law, Pam Haas; his nephews, Rick and Kory Haas, David Papenheim, and Nick, Ben and Andy Ford; his niece, Jennifer Ford; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Alice; his nephew, Tim Haas, and daughter, Stephanie.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Hope City Church in Waterloo, on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 11:00AM. Visitation will be Sunday, January 19, from 1-4 PM at Locke on Fourth, 1519 West 4th Street. Memorials may be directed to the family.
