Robert “Bob” K. Chambers, 67, of Waterloo, IA, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. Bob grew up in Persia, IA and graduated from the Iowa Braille and Sight Savings School in Vinton, IA.
After graduating, Bob lived and worked in the greater Des Moines, IA area for many years. He then retired and moved to Waterloo. Bob had many interests including politics, history, and sports. He loved a good conversation especially about his beloved Chicago Cubs.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Lavern and Doris Chambers; his sister in law, Sue Chambers; and his brothers in law, Elliot Jennings and Larry McCulley. He is also preceded in death by two faithful Leader Dogs, Zoe and Jake.
Bob is survived by two brothers, Bill Chambers of Manzanola, CO and Ben (Debbie) Chambers of West Des Moines, IA; and four sisters, Janice (Ralph) Feese of Roselle, IL, Janette McCulley of Hudson, IA, Jean Jennings of Woodridge, IL and JoAnne (Pat) Bohl of Humboldt, SD. He is also survived by his retired Leader Dog, Sam and his current “hero” Leader Dog, Dayton. For it was Dayton that returned to Bob’s residence several blocks away and alerted staff that Bob was in need of assistance.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Cedar Valley Hospice; MercyOne Waterloo, the first responders, EMTs, and the Waterloo Police and Fire Departments; also the staff of Bridges Senior Living and Locke Funeral Home for their help and support during this very difficult time.
