Robert Harold "Bob" Clark, 79, of La Porte City, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 9, 2024, while a patient at Unity Point Allen Hospital in Waterloo. He was born on March 24, 1945, in Waterloo, the son of Harold and Evelyn Unger Clark. Bob attended Gates Business School in Waterloo and was the owner of Clark Chevrolet in La Porte City. He married Kevin Jane "KJ" Elliott on December 21, 1963, and the couple was blessed with four children, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bob was a loving family man, and he loved attending activities for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Having worked in the dealership every day since he was 10 years old and up until his retirement, he loved telling dealership stories and he loved all his customers. He was the recipient of the Legion of Leaders award from Chevrolet/Oldsmobile, was a member of La Porte City Business Association, Shriner's Mason Lodge 218, and Iowa Automobile Dealer Association. He loved people and worked long hours caring for his customers before he retired in December 2007.
Bob loved popcorn, ice cream and trips to Burger King. He was a jokester who was totally dedicated to his family. He played Santa for family Christmas events and enjoyed vegetable gardening. Bob was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan and was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, KJ of La Porte City; his children, Todd (Denise) Clark of La Porte City, Angela (Todd) Soppe of Jesup, Nathan (Stephanie) Clark of Ankeny, and Cory Clark of Jesup; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Pat (Bob) Hill of Dysart, Jim (Lori) Clark and Jean (John) Hager, both of La Porte City; and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Charlotte Craft, brother William Clark and brother-in-law Lee Craft.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 501 Sycamore St., La Porte City. Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2024, from 4-7 PM at the church. Memorial contributions should be directed to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
