Ricky Eugene Beatty

Ricky E. "Rick" Beatty, 64, of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on January 16, 1961, in Waterloo, son of Larry E. and Diana K. Randall Hickman. Rick graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1980. He married Darla Miller in 1983; they later divorced. Rick married Sally Blanck on April 14, 2012, in Waterloo.

Rick worked for the Waterloo Lumber Company until retiring in 2013. He also was a custodian at the Lincoln Park Building, and had numerous other jobs. He enjoyed building things with his hands. Rick collected old clocks, CB Radios, pinball machines, and even had a 1947 Hudson automobile. He loved listening to 80's hard rock. Rick was a simple down to earth man.

Rick is survived by his wife, Sally Beatty of Waterloo; son, Michael Beatty; daughter, Jo Ann Beatty, both of Trimont, MN; two step-daughters, Valarie Culpepper of Henderson, NV, and Michelle Culpepper of Rockford, IL; granddaughter, Evelyn Beatty, MN; two sisters-in-law, Marie (Keith) Wright of Waterloo, and Sue Lynn Pettit of Denver, CO; brother-in-law, Charlie (Cristi) Blanck of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Bourbon. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Rick Pettit; niece, Christina Regenold; aunt, Karon Gram; and a dog, Trash.

Memorial Services are 11:00 am Monday, April 7, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, with a visitation for one hour prior at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
