Richard R. “Dick” Walden, 52, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Dick was born July 11, 1961 in Waterloo, the son of Robert and Jane Holmes Walden. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1979 and received his Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Iowa where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta.

Dick owned and operated the family business, Walden Photo, and later worked at Locke Funeral Home. He was active in the photography field becoming one of the first Certified Photographic Counselors in the area. He was a member of the Photographic Research Organization and Independent Photographic Imagers. Dick photographed Covenant and Sartori Foundations’ Heroes Among Us event every year.

Dick is survived by his mother Jane Walden of Waterloo; two sisters: Sue Jorgensen and her husband Rick of Naperville, Illinois and Kathy Schreiner and her husband Mark of Waterloo; and his brother Mike Walden of Waterloo. He is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews: Bob (Megan) Jorgensen, Katie Jorgensen, Danny (Kelly) Jorgensen, Scott (Chelsey) Schreiner, and Libby Schreiner; as well as one grandnephew Colin Jorgensen. Dick was preceded in death by his father.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home with burial preceding services in Elmwood Cemetery; visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
