Richard Robert R. Koch

Richard Robert Koch, 64, of Waterloo died of natural causes on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Pillar of the Cedar Valley. Richard was born on March 15, 1958, the son of Stanley Joseph Koch and Betty Julia Robert Koch, both of Waterloo Iowa.

Richard grew up in Waterloo and attended school at St. Mary's Catholic School and Columbus High, class of 1977. While in high school, Richard was a part of the 1976 State Championship Football Team for Columbus High School. Richard was a favorite resident at Countryview and he enjoyed playing cards, going to the Cattle Congress and visiting with the Columbus High students. He enjoyed seeing family, cooking and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings.

Richard is survived by his son, Brandon (Casi) Cathers and their daughter Aubrey; brother Dave (Ann Parlin) Koch of Brooklyn Park, MN; and sisters, Karen (Tom) Simmons of Marco Island, FL and Liz (Geoff) Miller of Clive, IA; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

A Holy Rosary will be said in Richard's honor on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Waterloo, beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by a 10:30 Mass of Christian Burial. Inurnment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
