Richard Ray Christensen

Richard "Rick" Ray Christensen, 64, of Waterloo, died Thursday, December 12, 2024, while a patient of Unity Point Allen Hospital. He was born in Waterloo on July 3, 1960, the son of Thomas and Valetta Chaney Christensen. Rick graduated from Jesup High School in 1978 and worked for the city of Cedar Falls in their recycling center. He married Dale Ann Herzberg on September 26, 1981, in Waterloo, and the couple was blessed with three children.

Rick didn't show much emotion but was a very caring man. He loved his children and his grandchildren, and they were the highlight of his life. He also loved to bowl in several leagues and had bowled numerous perfect games. Rick enjoyed racing, both dirt track as well as NASCAR, and RC racing. He also enjoyed fishing and playing video games. Rick was very proud of his children and was very supportive of their activities-especially when it came to bowling! Recently, he discovered "Friends" TV reruns and liked watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears. Rick was very content with his life.

Rick is survived by his wife, Dale Ann, of Waterloo; sons Justin (Chelsea) Christensen and their children Jaxon and Adalyn, of Waterloo, and Drew (Christina) Christensen of Hudson and daughter Brandi (Mike) Hogencamp and their daughter Paisley, of Washburn; his stepmother Joyce Christensen of Washburn; 4 stepsisters; and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded by his parents and sisters Ronda Christensen and Robin Clayton.

A Celebration of Life celebrating Rick's life will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 2-4 PM, at Grace Baptist Church, 3820 Hammond Ave, Waterloo with private family inurnment at Garden of Memories Cemetery at a later date.
