Richard “Dick” L Beahr

Richard L. “Dick” Beahr, 80, of Cedar Falls, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

He was born June 9, 1945, in Oelwein, the son of George and Eleanora “Nora” (Boleyn) Beahr. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1963 and received a degree from the University of Northern Iowa.

Dick married Sylvia A. Sturtz on June 13, 1964, at Open Bible Church in Waterloo.

He worked at John Deere for over 40 years, retiring from PEC in 2009.

Dick enjoyed playing golf over the years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended many activities for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His favorite hobby was spending time with his wife and making her happy. Together they raised and trained horses on their farm for almost 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Beahr of Cedar Falls; two sons, Rich (Beverly) Beahr of La Porte City, and Brent (Stacy) Beahr of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Sheena (Brittin), Chelsea, Megan, Tristin, Dalton, and Bea; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald (Linda) Beahr of Des Moines.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Kathy Marie Waters.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo. Memorial visitation from 2:00-4:00 p.m. prior to services with a reception to follow services. Memorials may be directed to the family. Locke at Tower Park is assisting the family.
