Opal Bonita Abben, 96, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at home on Thursday, March 26, 2015.

She was born November 13, 1918 in Fayette, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Catherine (Gill) Troyer.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School.

Opal was the owner and operator of Opal’s Beauty Shop for 30 years. She retired in 2008.

She was a member of the First Church of the Open Bible.

Opal is survived by: granddaughter, Angela Orr of Des Moines; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother-in-law, Danny Foster of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, David Hanson; twin brothers, Leonard and Leon; and three sisters, Dorothy Smith, Gwendolyn Gilbert, and Naomi Foster.
