Opal born December 1, 1923 in Clarksville, Iowa, parents Mildred and Carl Piel. She attended school in Janesville.
She worked for 36 years at Rath Packing Co.
She moved to Waterloo in 1942 from Shell Rocks and surrounding towns.
She joined First Lutheran Church and was baptized and confirmed there.
She had three sisters, Betty Minard, Louise Heidemann, and Lorretta Simpson; one brother, Bobby Piel; and one, daughter, Debra Piel.
Private family graveside services to take place in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
