Norma Jean Washington, 70, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital.

She was born August 31, 1951, in Waterloo, the daughter of Richard and Helen (Austin) Ruffin.

Norma graduated from Waterloo East High School with the class of 1969.

She married Chester Washington on February 23, 1972 in Waterloo.

She worked for White Glove Janitorial Services for many years until retiring in 2013.

Norma loved her family immensely. She thought the world of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by her husband, Chester Washington; daughter, Anjanette (Rickie Landfair) Washington; two sons, Chester (Angie) Washington Jr. and Marcus (Danielle) Washington; fourteen grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren with another on the way; sister, Jeri Ann Jones; two brothers, Robert (Esther) Ruffin and Barry Ruffin; and three sisters, Bertha (Ernest) Baskerville, Delorise Ruffin all of Waterloo, and Marguerite Wright of Minneapolis, MN.

Preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Matthew Austin, Carl Ruffin, and Richard Ruffin Jr.
