Norma A. Deeds, age 88, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at Northcrest Special Care in Waterloo.

She was born October 8, 1927 in rural Allamakee County, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Ella Hansmeier Strelow. Norma was united in marriage with Billy R. Deeds on March 3, 1946 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1994.

Norma was a lifelong homemaker and artist and had formerly worked for Powers Manufacturing and Cadillac Lanes. She was an accomplished painter and used her talents to create beautiful sceneries, pictures of animals and Native Americans on a variety of objects including saw blades, magnets, feather and canvas. Norma was fond of gardening and spending time visiting with family and her many friends over a cup of coffee and a sweet treat. She also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, playing bingo and working with crafts.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherry (Gary) Miller of Waverly; 3 sons, Danny (Traudel) Deeds of Tampa, FL., Steven Deeds of Waterloo and Michael (Rhonda) Deeds of Waterloo; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
