Nancy Niedert, 75, of Waterloo died at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home on Sunday, September 9, 2007.

She was born October 15, 1931 in Waterloo, daughter of Willard H. and Dorothy M. Hill DeLong. She graduated from East High School in 1949 and from Pitze’s School of Cosmetology.

Nancy married Glenn A. Niedert on June 4, 1949 in Waterloo. He died May 14, 1992.

She owned and operated Nancy’s Beauty Salon from 1963 until 1992 and then worked from her home until retiring.

Nancy was a mother, caregiver and caretaker for everyone: her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, children of friends, her friends, and strangers. She was a spectator at their sports, a volunteer for their needs, and a giver. She was their hairdresser, their Easter Bunny, their seamstress, their family. She was an active, dedicated member of First Lutheran Church and a volunteer at Allen Memorial Hospital. She loved vacations with Glenn, was a Harley owner and rider, self-taught seamstress, loved quilting and her friends.

Nancy is survived by two daughters: Pam Williams and Lynn A. Van Brocklin and her husband Gary, all of Waterloo; eight grandchildren: Aaron (Nicole) Westphal, Brent (Amy Hangartener) Westphal, Reed Van Brocklin, Grant (Nicole) Van Brocklin, Andrea Williams, Corey Williams, Chad (Melinda) Williams, and Paula Regenold; and twelve great-grandchildren: Paige, Drew, Kennedy, Reagan, Erin, Guillermo, Shilo, Abby, Amanda, Austin, Tanner, and Gavin. Also survived by one-half brother and two half-sisters and four step-brothers and three step-sisters.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant brother.
